Default Sick travesty of justice in Georgia

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/etick...ry?page=wilson

High School footballer with high grades and invitations to Ivy League schools is jailed 10 years for choosing innocence and not be branded a sex offender rather than taking a plea bargain like the rest of his friends.

This is simply despicable, and the reason why I am more and more dispassionate about politics and the law. When the law doesn't serve the proper goals of society, doesn't serve the aims of justice, and when politics and the law conspire to destroy a promising young life for something he had no control over...(when he was in grade 12, a grade 10 girl initiated oral sex with him) it's an absolute travesty.

Made even worse is the prosecutor is the greatest example of sheer heartlessness and inhumanity. He actually says that the young man should have taken the plea bargain and accepted the mandatory jail sentence rather than try to prove his innocence in court by jury. "In Barker's eyes, Wilson should have taken the same plea agreement as the others. Maintaining innocence in the face of the crushing wheels of justice is the ultimate act of vanity, he believes."

Compare this with the other thread where the Calgary man gets 10 years for the manslaughter of both his girlfriend and unborn child. This kid had oral sex with a girl 1 or 2 years his junior, in which she initiated, and according to Georgia's backward laws and perhaps racial prejudice and history...recieves the same sentence.
