How do you allow one team to void a players contract with no cap penalty.
Then find that the investigation found no issue and don’t suspend the player.
And then let another team sign him .
I don’t get his his contract was just voided to start with, yet he faces no type of suspension

The only pretzel logic I can think of is that the NHL will claim:
- Kane's actions in the AHL are out of their jurisdiction (did the AHL suspend him? or was he already released before they could?)
- Kane's actions in the AHL are still relevant to his relationship with the Sharks
Or the other answer might be that this outcome is essentially the 'settlement' - ie. the grievance goes no where in exchange for no punishment/the investigation time delaying his signing was punishment enough.
Or maybe they let Kane spin the wheel of supplementary discipline and he got lucky.
Not saying I agree with any of the above, just ideas.
