If he clicks with the top line then great, he's getting 30 minutes a night, but if he doesn't he's getting 10. Kind of hard to earn your next contract playing less minutes than most other teams 4th liners. If he really had a ton of options I am sure he would have picked the one that gives him a chance to play meaningful playoff hockey.
Being on a SC finalist or winner certainly gets you a bigger paycheck than playing with McDavid.
