A driver becomes pointless when self driving tech is reasonably reliable, I get the theory that the driver will be sitting their eyes on the road, hands hovering an inch off the wheel in a state of constant cat like readyness to pounce if their is a problem, but in reality the driver will be having a nap or engrossed in their twitter account and will never see the problem until it is way to late, people are already doing this and the self drive tech right now is rubbish, keeping a driver is just an extra person to get injured
