I'm going to question the accuracy of losing 10-15 pounds of sweat during a hockey game for any player. There is no way that is even humanly possible to sustain....you would be on an IV for days if you came even close to that figure or quite possibly dead. I would say it is more like 3 pounds of sweat that could be lost at the most.

Goalies used to play back to backs all the time and are certainly far better athletes than most goalies 20 years ago. It's more based on mental fatigue, reducing wear and tear and giving backups a chance to play.
