The league is to0 competitive for that to happen.

Think about it this way: if you have offensive pressure all the time, and are generating a ton of shots, then the defenders are all going to be in deep, defending.

The more offense you generate and shots you take, the harder it gets to score, because the D collapses. The stats remain linear, and suggest you're not scoring as much as you should, but that is because the stats aren't capable of factoring in how the game changes as the shots climb.

This is just one of the perils of relying on stats - they don't have any nuance.
