1. Trade that will have the biggest impact?

I like the Ohlund deal, but I think Becky's pieces are going to have the biggest impact. Couple that with the people around her too afraid to make the move to put them over the top, I like her chances this year from the Howe... Hawks or the Wild.

2. What teams didn't do enough to help themselves going into the playoffs or to start the rebuilding process?

Oilers are the obvious answer here with them unable to replace Samsonov for the playoffs... Didn't think Anaheim made enough effort either to get themselves in a better position next season... perhaps there was no fit.

3. Are you happy with what you did and didn't do and why?

For once, I'm actually happy with the deals I made at the deadline. Normally, I regret deals pretty much within the first few minutes of making them, but I thought I did alright this time.

My reasoning the entire time throughout my process of acquiring youth and CPHL-ready guys was to eventually package them up for high-rated, veteran forwards, since these are the guys proven time and time again in this league to be the ones that matter the most. Ultimately, I didn't think Wellwood or Perezhogin were going to be at a level high enough where they would be difference makers on my roster, and with Ward as a clear number 1 for me, Holmqvist was expendable... so I pulled the trigger there to get Jagr.

Mcauley is a good DF player in the SIM, but his knee problem, although not serious in my opinion, was something I didn't want to deal with. Mclauey's starting to get up there now in age (30 on July 1st), and missing most of the NHL season with an injury probably won't help his case come re-rates this offseason. He's the prototypical player that a deep playoff team would want to add for a playoff run, which is why this deal works for both the Islanders and the Canes. I was able to add CP whipping boy Chuck Kobasew and a prospect defenceman in Niklas Grossman who I really like.

4. Is there a team that has now become a contender after making trades yesterday?

Becky's Hawks improved themselves, but that defense still has me befuddled. Contender, perhaps... but that defense... LOL.

5. Best/Worst trade of the day

Lost of good additions in my opinion. Dave's deal for Stuart got him a Top 4 defenceman... he gave up a young guy who will be good, but he added a 77OV defenceman capable of Top 4 minutes to an already deep defense... I also like Syl's deal for Ruutu as I think Ruutu's injury woes are behind him and he will dominate next season in the NHL... this isn't to say that the deal wasn't good for Becky though, which I already said makes her a lot stronger for the playoffs...

Worst deals... not crazy about Sandra's deal for Ivanans for Semenov as I like Semenov a lot more... but I really like Sandra getting rid of Nilson who appears to have had his injuries catch up to him this season, for Zednik who should out-last Nilson... bad deal for Mike IMO.
