Well there wasn't a whole lot of trading on deadline day. A lot of small deals but nothing too major. I'll take a shot anyway.
1. Trade that will have the biggest impact?
Probably Atlanta's trearade lier in the week which landed them Ohlund. They didn't have a legit #1 defenseman but they do now. They also got York who they traded for Lang which will have a big impact as well.
2. What teams didn't do enough to help themselves going into the playoffs or to start the rebuilding process?
I think overall the Howe didn't do enough. Other than Chicago everyone basically stood pat. In a conference where all 8 playoff teams will have a shot to make a run I thought they would all improve their team on deadline day.
3. Are you happy with what you did and didn't do and why?
Personally I didn't plan on doing much anyway so I'm not dissapointed. I was hoping to get more for Ohlund but what can you do. I need a top 6 forward and top 4 defenseman, but wasn't going to get either of them now. I'll wait until the summer to improve.
4. Is there a team that has now become a contender after making trades yesterday?
Atlanta improved the most over the last week. They are going to be a tough out in the playoffs. Also Chicago improved their chances in the Howe. Those 2 teams are the "winners" of deadline day/week.
5. Best/Worst trade of the day
Best- I like Detroit's trade with Montral. Nedved and Majesky for Recchi and Jonsson. Recchi is having a good NHL season so he's a good player to have for next year.
Also Chicago got a lot for Ruutu. Bonk/Salvador will help this year and they got a 1st round pick as well. Liked that trade for Chicago.
