I don't understand it, but, I see that McJesus is getting headlines for being non-committal on the Oil signing Kane. The exact quote: "If fans don’t like it, or the media doesn’t like it, or whatever... it is what it is."

I do my best to ignore that team (I got enough of them in the 80s!), but, what little I have paid attention to McSavior in interviews, he seems to have a flat affect as a baseline, and reading too much into his words is pretty damn silly.

Now, as far as Kane, if a team is to add ANYBODY, the following must be evaluated

1. Compatibility with system. Kane seems ok with an open offensive system, and I would expect that if defensive demands are minimal, he'd fit in.

2. Expense vs expected production, harder to predict, but, my assumption is that he'd sign a "show me" contract with incentives. This would entail minimal risk.

3. Compatibility with team culture. This one is where the red flags have been throughout Kane's career, from the Jets guys tossing his crap into the shower, to assault, gambling, and domestic violence accusations, and recently, breaking league guidelines, it would be hard to predict how badly, or how long, a guy would want to make team his addition to chemistry work, especially if an agent is in his ear, reminding him how close he is to being out of chances. With the Oil, I would anticipate a more difficult time, in that the whole organization rotates around keeping a very small cadre of top line forwards happy, to the expense of the rest of the organization.

Frankly, I've never paid much attention to E. Kane, Thrashers, Jets, Sabres, Sharks, aren't exactly marquee teams to follow, with little rivalry history, for Chicago fans. And don't really care if another team throws him a lifeline.
