The Smelly Rat
December 17th, 2004

Well the Panthers are now one of the hottest teams in the entire CPHL with a record of 6-4 over their last 10 games. With a win today over the Senators, the Panthers leap-frogged the Sabers into 25th place.

"We are playing great hockey right now" said a smiling Penney. Since we aquired KEVIN WEEKS, we have had a winning record for the first time this year. We know it is a long journey to a playoff spot but you just never know what might happen" said Penney.

On several occasions this year, the Panthers have traded away great talent for excellent prospects. They plan on building the team for the future. But with the recent success of the Panthers, one might begin to wonder if Panther GM Dave Penney will make a few moves to try and better this team to make a serious playoff run.

"Not a chance" said Penney. "We will continue to juggle our lines to match up with our opponent but we will not be trading any of our youth to try and succeed this year. It would be great to make the playoffs but that is stretching it at this point. But with a few more wins, we actually won't be that far back of several team" said Penney.

The Panthers face the Islanders tomorrow night where they will start rookie goaltender Alex Auld. It is believed that Mr. Penney want both Weeks and Garon rested and ready when the face the Penguins the very next night,

"Yes we are lookign past this game against the Islanders" said Penney. "Realistically we should lose that game, especially if they decide to start Roloson. But we have faith that Auld will keep it a close game" said Penney.
