I agree the first two episodes could've had more meat on their bones. It was so painfully obvious where it was going that it made the development of it boring to sit through.

I think the Matt storyline could've been executed a little more convincingly and a little less conveniently. Plus his character was a total caricature of the careless, entitled rich kid, which made him no more than a plot tool to set Dex back on his old path.

Maybe they use the billionaire subplot instead to flesh out Molly and Angela's characters a bit more. I feel like those two were a little undercooked and I feel like they also didn't bond enough to buy into Angela's being affected by her fate as much as she was. Even Dexter and Angela's relationship could've been fleshed out a little more. It didn't even seem like they were a couple after the first episode.

Put more substance into the first two-three episodes like they did so well in the last few and this season is a massive home run IMO.
