What I don't understand though, is Flames fans are are so afraid he's going to bolt to Philly. Of the hundreds or thousands of players over the past 10-20 years, how many players wanted to bolt home in FA? They bolt toward the money, and in the cap era, they bolt to the team that can afford them. Alternatively, he's said many times he enjoys Calgary so maybe, just MAYBE, he stays here unless someone offers him insane money.

I think people were worried that he wanted to play in Philly badly so he’d be more likely to refuse any extension at all. If he tests the market, yeah, he goes where the money is. I think the teams that offer him a good spot are more limited than people think though. You need a team with cap space, that plans on contending over the next 3 years or so, who needs a LW.
