But based on last year's larger sample size I think he's considerably worse defensively than Pitlick. He was a boat anchor for almost any line he skated on.
He's better offensively, but even that is pretty minor.
With Pitlick you get a good direct aggressive game, but he hurts who ever he plays with offensively.
Guessing this is the type of argument you see in most team's bottom six (bottom four)

Pitlick is good at rushing the play of the opposition and checking (not hitting) up and down the ice, so he limits their possession. That’s what Sutter likes from the bottom six, it seems. Ritchie forechecks and hits, but ends up behind the play because he’s gone so hard into the end boards. His stick isn’t as good.
