Are you really as dense as you come across? The reason for the distrust in media is the bifurcation created in the media caused by the removal of the controls established in the Mayflower and Fairness Doctrines, and then the deregulation in ownership caused by the passage of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The loss of the doctrines gave way to an imbalance in the presentation of information, and then the change in ownership rules allowed for consolidation of outlets and the establishment of echo chambers. The consolidation of ownership also meant a loss of diversity of voices and ideas, which meant representative points of views from around the nation were lost and only a few voices contributed to the zeitgeist. It is why conservatives have a much narrower view, and more often incorrect information, on important events and issues. The echo chamber is the same voices repeating the same misinformation/disinformation.

If Trump wins in 2024 and the Republicans have the house and the Senate, would you want them implementing the regulatory regime for the media?
