I hear what you’re saying but I would say Monahan has more tread left on the tire than Ericsson. I would also take OEL over MEV.
If Monahan had several years left, I doubt the Flames would be able to find a taker but with only one year left, I think there is a decent chance they can move him. Ericsson was one example but I’m reasonably sure there have been players with one year left on a downward trajectory who have been moved.
On another front I wonder if the Habs could be enticed to take Monahan back in a trade involving Anderson. Depending on how Gorton feels about it I wonder if he might want to get from under that contract and it has been stated by a few people close to the team Treliving has liked Anderson. I would imagine MTL would have interest in picking up additional 1st round picks this year.
