A lot of the well known furniture stores like West Elm also get much of their furniture made overseas, lots from Vietnam.
I imagine the type of furniture store the OP was going to with pushy sales people, are mostly made in China sofas as well.
Regardless of the retailer, finding out where the sofa is made is a good idea
