Omicron is so much more transmissible than Delta, which was so much more transmissible than the original strain. I think we all need to just get with the idea that we're all going to get it at some point and most of us won't notice or have minor symptoms. We only had one chance at eliminating this thing and it was super early if I literally shutting down everything around the world for two or three weeks. We didn't do that and we can go back in time we just have to live with the fact that this thing is here to stay now.
If lockdowns and other serious measures previously didn't stop Delta and the original strain, we need stop pretending that lockdowns can and will stop Omicron. It simply won't. We should encourage everyone to be double vaccinated and that's really the only thing we can do at this point. I really feel like people are clinging to lockdowns because it gives them hope that we can actually eliminate this thing , and I'm not trying to offend anyone when I say that, I get the idea. But that's not happening. That ship has long since sailed. Barring a new strain that eliminates the effectiveness of vaccines from keeping people out of the hospital, we should be returning to normal. Because that's what we're living in right now: this is the new normal
