I suppose there's a possibility that we'd see the U.S. break up into separate countries eventually, but I don't even know how that would work? 10 years ago we'd all be called crazy for even suggesting something like this, but if that country continues its downward spiral, who knows what could happen.
I think Canada needs to start preparing now for this inevitability and try to come up with ways to at least minimize the damage as much as we can. I highly doubt we'd see an actual invasion of the north anytime soon. But the potential is certainly there, especially if the GQP/Trump cult is in charge. Those people are bats*** insane and capable of anything.

I agree, 10 years ago this would have seemed a ridiculous, stupid thing to consider. But now it almost seems unavoidable? I don't know... I might be too gloomy but I really don't understand what can be salvaged at this point. Splitting up into smaller regional countries is perhaps the best solution, but it's bad and likely would still lead to small wars or fights. That's how the first civil war started after all. I personally think both parties would turn imperialist/expansionist before conceding seccession of american territory and disolution of federal authority/ their military.
