I think the vast majority of North American born hockey players would rather win the Stanley cup over an olympic medal. that's more prestige and recognition in the hockey world.
Sure they'd probably like to have both, but if they could only have one, it would be the cup.
look at CP for one example. Are players rated here by their international play or Olympic credentials? No, that's just icing on the cake for a players career.
