I think that in the books they had to blindfold the horses to get them through. That has to be a logistical nightmare to film. The horses don't really get to have personalities in the show, although there was a shoutout to Bela a while back.
I'm guess that was a Ter'angreal. A very specific one that only goes to one place, or else it would be a little too powerful to hide.
