SOIR is for players on two-way contracts who have a hockey-related injury, incurred during the offseason or training camp.
If they accrued 50 NHL games in the previous season, their full cap hit counts towards the cap. If they accrued 0 NHL games in the previous season, their cap hit does not count towards the cap. If they accrued 1-49 NHL games in the previous season, their cap hit is discounted by the fraction of accrued NHL days (out of the total number of days in the season) for the previous season.
