I think Coleman is more than goals and assists though, his checking and defensive game is excellent. He’s only been on the ice for 8 even strength goals and plays tough minutes.
He kind of reminds me of Michael Frolik a bit. Can play up and down the lineup, high hockey IQ, high motor. Although Frolik was usually good for 0.5 points per game or 40ish points in a full season. So until Coleman snaps out of this funk and starts putting up some points, I’m with you that he’s not living up to his contract, especially with the cap crunch coming next season.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt though as he has won 2 consecutive Stanley Cups, so perhaps his value will be seen more in the playoffs. He’s still a considerably better overall player than a James Neal, so I’m not concerned with his long term viability as an NHLer. But hopefully he starts putting up points soon because hard work without the results isn’t helping the team win right now.
