I have said it before but upon a recent re-watch the main problem with the sequels was that they only had a loose pattern to follow.
The script was bad and the Direction of the actors was basically a crime. These were not terrible actors but you've got to give them something to work with.
Oh yeah, and the editing was brutal. This is what concerns and comforts me about this sequel. I consider the Wachowskis (I know theres only one involved in this one) to be relatively competent, but they cant seem to adapt all that well so when things go off the board they seem to go entirely off the rails.
The sequels smack to me of 'Lost' Syndrome.
What they had for a story was a hit, but then they had nothing so they just made up whatever crap they could to keep the gravy train rolling.
Now though it appears that there is a coherent plan and buy-in from the studios and the cast, and lots of time to polish and refine the story and the idea...so it
should be good.
