Either he will eichel will be ready just in time for playoffs or, more likely, they will place 2-3 guys on LTIR when he is ready to return during the regular season and those players will be re-activated right when playoffs start.
If I’m wrong and they do have to move $9 million in salary during the season, who will they move? I assume it will have to be multiple players that have a decent cap hit. And I don’t think they have many bad players under bad contracts so it will likely have to be players that they don’t want to lose.

The timeline for Kucherov's injury lined up perfectly with the start of the playoffs. Maybe he could have been back a week or 2 earlier but Tampa definetly had some luck on the timeline and start of the playoffs
Eichel's surgery has him back at least a month before the playoff start. I doubt they can pull that off.
When I look at their roster, they don't really have anyone obvious to dump that isn't a key contributor on an ok contract.
Brossiot could go and just hope Lehner stays healthy.
Dadanov is another guy but that still brings the total to around $7 mil assuming the new back up goalie is on a league min contract.
Smith is another player and he would be a rental player but he also seems to play well on this team. But someone would need to be removed from the top 2 lines.
If it is Smith and Dadonov I would think Dadonov would be hard to move without including a first. Dadonov has a NTC too so he will be very interesting if he is the one they try to move as he may not want to go to teams like Arizona or back to Ottawa
