One thing I'm starting to notice is that the word is our on the Flames. Teams now know what they're in for when they play the Flames. If they're going to win they have to buckle down, be disciplined in their work ethic and be ready to play.
Beyond that, so far it's been a battle of wills. You saw it with the Ducks last night, they came to play, they came back from 2 goals down against a really stingy team. But the Flames just kept checking through guys for 60+ minutes, no matter the momentum, no matter the score. A well played game like that for the Ducks in December will garner a win 9 times out of 10. Not last night.
You saw it against Pittsburgh, Philly, New York, Chicago, hell most of the games so far. The Flames will to work and win is just that much higher than most of their opponents. Many teams so far have just been smothered in the 3rd period. The Ducks in my recollection were the first to find some energy from the 2 goal comeback and really push it in the 3rd. That showed in the final result.
Really good signs for this team.
