I finally watched Venom: Let There Be Carnage last night.
It was...3.6 Roentgen. Not great, not terrible.
It was fun, didnt take itself all that seriously, somewhat to its detriment.
The thing is...Venom isnt Spider-Man. He's not this happy-go-lucky slapstick character with witty quips and comical 'odd couple' repartee all the time.
He is supposed to be a dark character fueled by anger and resentment not striving for love and acceptance. He is the Anti-Hero. He does good things but he does them violently according to his own ethos.
They've really lightened his character up a lot and I think that takes away a lot of the gravity from the character.
It was very CGI heavy, but at least the CGI was good and everyone knew that going in.
It'll be interesting to see where it goes from here, hopefully they get the character back to his roots instead of the fluffy, happy Disney version.
