I'm of the mindset there's really no such thing as an 'easy' night for an NHL goaltender. Shutouts are tough to come by no matter the opponent.

One thing that's overlooked in Markstrom's game is his management of the play before and after the shot is so, so good.

His ability to find the shot release and get his feet set before the shot is one of the best in the league. The result is high danger shots that look like low event shots. There were a few of those in the first period.

After the save, he won't go swimming in his crease unless he's desperate because he's very good at tracking the rebound and finding the post again. Very economical movements and routes. So again, he has a tendency to make it look easy when it's really not.
