I think it would actually reflect poorly on the goalie if a low-event, low-shot game against one of the worst teams in the league, featuring precisely 0 threatening players was a struggle.
The Flames were supposed to dummy the Sabres - they did.
Markstrom was supposed to shut them out - he did.
By the standards of an elite NHL goalie, that was a pretty easy shutout.
The coach said so.
“Didn’t have much work until the 3rd period, very few chances other than power play, that’s what he’s supposed to do: make saves and cover pucks.”
And Darryl didn’t even open with “flawlessly executed” to describe his performance.
