I'm confused why the defender was allowed to pin a guy off the puck there for like 8 seconds without a penalty.

The Flames are just bullying them. They seem like a much bigger team. I'd imagine it's wearing on the Sabres by now.

These are the kind of teams that Buffalo really struggles against. They play with the same speed and intensity level, but their puck pressure is just too much for a team who doesn’t have many high skill guys that can beat that pressure.

It looks a lot like the Seattle game.

Calgary clearly came out faster than the Sabres expected. I think with around 8:30 left the Sabres started to get their feet under them and started pushing back. They’re doing OK in the NZ but need to get out of their own zone. When a team uses 2 forecheckers, it seems to really hurt the Sabres.

Really, after the third goal, the entire play started looking weak.

These guys are realizing they are outmatched. It can be a depressing moment. Its why rebuilds are so hard. It's hard to work knowing you suck at the moment.

100% on the D, there's been like 3 wide-open nets on quick passes.
But this has been ongoing this year. The difference is that the Flames are burying it in the empty net instead of missing or shooting it at Tokarski.

Calgary's goalie is likely to pitch another shutout. There are those on this board who seem to think their team in general will come crashing down but I don't. Sutter has 100% buy-in from everyone on that roster and that is a big threat. They're beating up on the punching bags of the league tonight, something the Oilers couldn't do. I'm not giving the Oilers a free pass either since it was a back to back game. Buffalo is awful and there was zero excuse to lose to them seeing the beating Calgary is giving them.

Phlegms have won 1 of their last 5 games... and that was against a Covid depleted Sens squad.. now they are beating a team tonight that should be near 32 in the standings but has had a great start (inexplicably... but Sabres will slowly drop down towards the basement in the NHL as well).

Flames are an illusion/pretenders riding a hot goalie to wins causing a good start to the season (and slipping already back to the pack) and they won't be a playoff team. If they are a playoff team then you can say "told ya so"... until then they are pretenders.
