Around the League Report
Spoiler!

Tkachuk Dishes, Johnny Snipes
Quote:
Skinner. GRRRR.... what a passing play though.
Quote:
Did the Sabres forget they are a good home team and this is a home game?
Quote:
Picking up where we left off in the 3rd against the Pens ? Nice strategy. Though Skinner riffing it over the net does sting a tad. C'mon boys let's find our skates and place them facing the offensive zone yes?
Quote:
Not a great line from Miller coming back, that's for sure.
Quote:
Helluva play by Johnny . Who the hell got that pass off?
Quote:
Miller just letting that happen is really annoying.
Quote:
Bryson played it right imo. Miller (I think it was him) vacated the front of the net with a Flame right there.
Quote:
Please PLEASE get rid of Colin Miller. For the love of God. I can’t take it anymore.
Quote:
I have a hard time disliking Miller after hearing he was 1 of 4 guys to welcome Owen Power
Quote:
Keep watching him, you’ll get over that.
The Darryl Sutter School of Pick-Plays
Quote:
Flames are interfering like crazy all over the ice
Quote:
Welcome to Sutter hockey baby!
Quote:
Calgary runs a Tampa level of interference
Quote:
Another night of refs not calling the rulebook
Quote:
Hannifin just held Cozens against the boards for about 5 seconds.
Quote:
I'm confused why the defender was allowed to pin a guy off the puck there for like 8 seconds without a penalty.
Quote:
The Flames are just bullying them. They seem like a much bigger team. I'd imagine it's wearing on the Sabres by now.
Quote:
I like the pin and hold on Cozens in the corner
Quote:
Elbow to the head. No call of course.
Quote:
We can’t hang with physical teams. They push us around.
Quote:
Sutter hockey. Ugggh. But we're going to have to learn to break thru teams like this that make interference a forte of their game.
Quote:
Drake got fed up with all the clutching and grabbing . Still a dumb move kid
Quote:
Well Calgary does seem to love tripping folk.
Quote:
Sutter's perma-frown cracks me up.
Eatbread from Thompson
Quote:
Tage feeding the low slot like a boss. Too bad it was for Calgary.
Quote:
Eat Bread strikes again. Girgs and Eakin both go to the wall to cover Tanev who had the primary.
Quote:
These are the kind of teams that Buffalo really struggles against. They play with the same speed and intensity level, but their puck pressure is just too much for a team who doesn’t have many high skill guys that can beat that pressure.
It looks a lot like the Seattle game.
Quote:
Gotta love those passes to no one. The inability to clear the zone. The over passing. GRRRRRR.
Quote:
Calgary clearly came out faster than the Sabres expected. I think with around 8:30 left the Sabres started to get their feet under them and started pushing back. They’re doing OK in the NZ but need to get out of their own zone. When a team uses 2 forecheckers, it seems to really hurt the Sabres.
Matthew Tkachuk, former Sabre
Quote:
Remember when Tkachuk and Gaudreau were getting traded a few weeks ago?
Quote:
Ugh...the former Sabre gets one
Quote:
Gassed....and not even 20 games in.
Quote:
Calgary putting on a ####ing passing clinic here tonight.
Quote:
vinny just totally useless on that
Quote:
Damn we are getting schooled
Quote:
Hey when your goalie isn't god getting dominated isn't so fun
Quote:
That was a nasty pass & goal
Mangiapane on the Backhand
Quote:
Sabres needed this blowout loss.. hopefully it acts as a wake up call.
Quote:
I am so sick of them getting caught in their own zone.
Quote:
Looks like I picked a good night to skip a game
Quote:
Butcher botched that. There was no reason to jump back and forth. Play the f***ing pass moron. Don’t rush the player with the puck
Quote:
This is what NY Jets fans feel like every week
Quote:
Well at least I can go watch Thursday night football without feeling guilty
Quote:
Wtf happened it was 2-0 last time I checked
Quote:
Really, after the third goal, the entire play started looking weak.
Quote:
These guys are realizing they are outmatched. It can be a depressing moment. Its why rebuilds are so hard. It's hard to work knowing you suck at the moment.
Quote:
100% on the D, there's been like 3 wide-open nets on quick passes.
But this has been ongoing this year. The difference is that the Flames are burying it in the empty net instead of missing or shooting it at Tokarski.
Monahan to Gaudreau
Quote:
back into Shane Wright mode
Quote:
hameful what the sabres show today
Quote:
Lol how are these passes getting through so clean
Quote:
Every f***ing goal is tic tack toe. Jesus
Quote:
this is just one of those games where the other team scores on literally all of their chances. calgary is better than us but i’d also describe some of the events as anomalous
Quote:
just turned on the game to hear duff say " Trailing by 5 at the end of the 2nd which was the worst period of the season for the sabres" couldn't help but laugh
Quote:
This game needs a giant pyramid of empty beer cans.
Quote:
Game has serious men’s league vibes at this point
Quote:
Vinny just gliding on the backcheck there :/
Quote:
I see we're at the suckiness of Montreal tonight. We're both losing 5 - 0
Quote:
Worst period of hockey they’ve played all year.
Quote:
We are terrible.
Honestly we have a long way to go to be competitive. I know Mitts and Victor are out but really? Every team has an injury. Expecting Mitts and Victor O to elevate us to Bolts territory is asking too much.
Super Saver
Quote:
Markstrom has psyched these guys out. They won’t shoot.
Quote:
Yup. Need a quick one here to get back some of the momentum. Let's go Most Dangerous Lead in Hockey!
Though with Marky in net this will be even more of a uphill battle
Quote:
Can't say I had high expectations for tonight, so at this point I'm just hoping they can avoid being shut out.
Quote:
This will be a miracle if we score 1 let alone 3. Especially against this goalie and this interfering lot but continue to watch I shall
Quote:
Man, we could spend the rest of the game on the PP and not score. Pretty embarrassing especially at home.
Quote:
Calling it now. Sabres won't score more than 1. Probably shutout.
Quote:
I have as much chance at scoring as the Sabres do tonight.

Pumpkin Hour
Quote:
Tokarski picks tonight to turn back into a pumpkin...
Quote:
Really puts that loss in perspective.
Quote:
Calgary showed up against Buffalo, unlike us. Started off outshooting them 11-2 and now it is 2-0 early in the 2nd
Quote:
Some teams just bring it instead of being cutesy against Buffalo. 4-0 lol
Pitt up 4-0
To up 2-0
5-0 now CGY
Quote:
I cant believe we lost to these clowns. Pretty embarrassing.
Buffalo is bad.
Quote:
Calgary's goalie is likely to pitch another shutout. There are those on this board who seem to think their team in general will come crashing down but I don't. Sutter has 100% buy-in from everyone on that roster and that is a big threat. They're beating up on the punching bags of the league tonight, something the Oilers couldn't do. I'm not giving the Oilers a free pass either since it was a back to back game. Buffalo is awful and there was zero excuse to lose to them seeing the beating Calgary is giving them.
Quote:
Phlegms have won 1 of their last 5 games... and that was against a Covid depleted Sens squad.. now they are beating a team tonight that should be near 32 in the standings but has had a great start (inexplicably... but Sabres will slowly drop down towards the basement in the NHL as well).
Flames are an illusion/pretenders riding a hot goalie to wins causing a good start to the season (and slipping already back to the pack) and they won't be a playoff team. If they are a playoff team then you can say "told ya so"... until then they are pretenders.
Quote:
Flames showing us how to put away a bottom feeder.
Quote:
would be cgys 6th shutout in less than 20 games
Quote:
People could easily use "Slow starts, soft goals and poor 5on5 play doom the (whoever loses to the Flames)" and "(whoever loses to the Flames) lay an egg vs Calgary".
