Here is the thing though. Another first round loss and this team is giving Johnny a 50% raise for his 29-36 age years. There is no superstar coming up yet so the feeling would be so similar to the 2007-2013 flames being lead by an aging winger.
I am really not a fan of the situation Brad has put himself in and based on his history I am not overly confident he will do a good job of dealing with it all. Losing Johnny for nothing is 100% on Brad.

There is a big difference though.
Landeskog desperately wanted to stay in Colorado and was willing to take a discount to stay. While he wanted as much as he could get, Colorado knew he wanted to stay and stuck to their guns, more of less.
I don't think Johnny wants to stay in Calgary at all costs.
