As an earlier poster mentioned, really highlights how behind the times we are. Europe building giant tunneled highways 10s of kilometers through mountains, yet here we are with large swaths of the TCH as single lane crummy highways.
Never mind the fact the "overbuilt" section of this whole area - the coqe - is absolutely f'd. I suspect most spots can be filled and repaved much quicker than people imagine, but the bridges, etc, will take a while...
If you guys thought the traffic on the 93 diversion due to the Golden TCH was a bad delay.....

I mean, for comparison look how long they were doing revamping work on the Old Banff overpass and the small highway bridge past the Jumping Pound turnoff this summer.
That region is ####ed. May have to resort to using routes through Washington for transport of goods, which slows the process down immensely.
