I have similar stories going to Greece every summer. Remote areas where my family is originally from, high above the mountains, far flung islands all over Greece, buildings that are incredibly thick, strong, concrete (cheaper) structures while the nice, quality homes are built with stone. All this with very strong reception across the board and the call and data plans rock bottom in terms of pricing.
