That's fair, but when people bring up .500... they're not ever talking about points percentage. You have to be cognizant of that. A points percentage over .500 does not mean anything with respect to the standings. Most years, a team at exactly .500 pts% will be around 26th or so in the overall standings. .
Points percentage is perfectly a valid thing to look at if you're looking at the NHL standings. But when someone brings up .500 you have to realize they are not ever talking about points percentahe.
Wanting to see your team winning more often than they're losing isn't about the
standings.
It's possible to see these as two independent objectives. To want to see a team that's at least .500 in win%, and at least a 96 point team in snek%
