Even then, it was most effective when Joe Nieuwendyk was there to stand beside the net (taking crosschecks and slashes every second) and tip those slapshots in. Stone's slapper isn't accurate and he doesn't have a Nieuwendyk to help him, so I view it more as a curiosity than a tool. There's a reason Stone was never seen as an offensive defenceman.
Say what you want about chucky...but his ability to tip pucks is among the best I have ever seen in the game...including Nieuwendyk..
