Trans women who were born biologically male are different from women born biologically female.
Aren’t they? They’re trans - they have a different flag and a different symbol, but they’re also the same?
I’m not saying this to deny anyone their humanity - live your truth.
It does seem like a trans woman goes through different challenges than a biological one.
Their lived experience is different.
I’m completely in favour of doing whatever we need to make sure the suicide rate of trans kids isn’t 40% higher than heteronormative ones.
Anyone who does violence to or otherwise harasses a trans person because of their own ignorance and hate deserves the full weight of the law to come down on them.
But if trans women and women were the same, they’d be the same.
It’s not an easy thing for a lot of people to wrap their minds around, and when they struggle while making an honest good faith attempt to understand, they can very quickly be branded as transphobic.
In the face of that, lots of people will throw up their hands and stop trying, which I don’t think is the goal - empathy cuts both ways.
