Yeah, the concept of meme as a thought virus has been around a while. But I especially liked his point at the end - that while memes that invoke anger are more contagious, opposing memes that invoke anger on their respective sides are actually in a symbiotic relationship, feeding off self-generated outrage to ensure their own survival. Looking at our current conflicts, be they political, racial, or, say, vaccinational(?), this certainly rings true.

I think this is an important point to consider. While people are responsible for the ideas that they gravitate to and propagate, how we view the other side, and how we engage them, will affect how they view and engage us. Choose whatever issue you want to define "they" and "us".
