Strange place to find this conversation.

The biggest problem stemming from the last (separating it from the previous three) wave was the cancellation of surgeries due to volume.

I haven't heard any stories about people going into a hospital and hearing about NOT taking vaccines from any doctors, nurses or staff. If they have alternate beliefs, they are keeping it to themselves. Personal choices are being kept personal. The idea that health care workers are quietly trying to spread misinformation within a hospital is just a boogeyman.

K95 and other PPE, sanitation and ventilation in a hospital is highly effective. So much so that in the rare cases where a health care worker became infected in a hospital, it was in the news. The assumption being made here is that there is going to be a breakdown in professionalism at the hospital leading to cases, and that has never happened.

This is all overstating the danger for political theatre, and the only sure result is going to be the cancellation of surgeries due to lack of staff. That was the worst part of the last wave! As a person who has two people that I care about waiting on surgery, it's frustrating that posturing is going to cost them more time.

I have zero worries that (on the small chance) if one of the people involved in a surgery is not vaccinated, they are going to incorrectly use their PPE, and start preaching about whatever personal reason they have for not being vaccinated.

The reason there is going to be a second delay on surgeries is going to be because of emotional and political reaction, and not even the virus. Am I allowed to have the same amount of pissed off rage at the people denying access to surgeries in the next two months, as they have against unvaccinated health care workers?

Unvaccinated health care workers have not been a cause of spread, but putting them on unpaid leave will be a cause of delayed surgery.
