Wow...somehow a girl going through awful sexual harassment has transformed into a talk about covid and politics. A conversation about sexual harassment or assault should not be derailed by other topics. If you want to argue about covid, I'm pretty sure there is a thread for that and there is absolutely no need for it to be a part of this conversation.

If an individual is bothered by sexual harassment/assault (only saying this because some seem inclined to be more bothered by the victims), they will probably have met many jerks in all the shades of the political spectrum. As a victim myself, it concerns me when I see people trying to blame the "other side." That is just an excuse so that individuals don't have to look inwards at whatever culture they are involved in until something like Twitter demands it. Now this may seem a bit harsh, and I can understand why the conversation took the turn it did, but there is no reason it can't turn back.

This may have been a case of a group of popular and nasty "leaders" who were being followed by a bunch of conforming kids who were sadly never taught how to truly think for themselves (I'm not excusing them, but I'm hopeful that a few feel terrible in hindsight). This is why I hope I don't fail in teaching my children to lead, while also being able to see situations from others' perspectives compassionately.

Just please don't make this about political spectrum/covid.
