This is false. The Flames were interviewing candidates for several weeks, and with the way that hire happened there is reason to believe that Gulutzan was not Treliving's first choice.

This is probably true. Treliving and Sutter have both spoken about being in conversation for long before he was hired, and about the timing needing to be right.

I would be interested to hear about what other alternatives you think would have worked out better in that situation. Had the Flames made an outside hire in Summer 2020, that coach would still be with the team, and Sutter would not be. This seems to me like a worse outcome.
