I thought it was the Flames' worst game of the season so far - they just didn't have the same tenacious puck pursuit that has been the trademark of the first 9 games. I said several times through the game that they looked like last year's team, playing slow.
People are always quick to blame the goalie whenever we lose - sometimes the shooter just makes a good shot.
I thought they lost the game in the last 15 seconds of the 2nd period - they had just scored twice, taking over the game and the lead, and had the puck and were moving up ice on the last shift of the period, at the tail end of a PP. For some inexplicable reason, the puck carrier (Tanev?) dumped it in with 15 seconds left. The puck went around the boards and out, and the Stars went down 2 on 1 and scored, to completely flip the momentum back around.
If Tanev carries it in, the puck likely never leaves the zone and they go into the room up 2-1 (maybe even 3-1)
The Stars have our number, and play us with confidence. It's infuriating - I hate those bastards. But I'll take the point.
