What a weird thing to nitpick. I guess you can parse words but I can’t think of any existing acknowledgement of “elite” that is more recognized than the HHOF.
IMO you want to debate whether a player was elite, you should start with the HHOF status. Visit the HHOF some time and you will see plaques for a whole bunch of elite players.
Enough time wasted on this needless argument though.
