The team has been great IMO, hopefully Sean wakes up at some point on what a 200 foot game is actually about and semi pulls some weight. He says he feels great and knows he has a lot to prove, but hes just not cutting it. You can't blame linemates for you not being in the right spot defensively, making a clean pass, putting your bloody stick on the ice/in the lane or winning a puck battle.

A major problem with Monahan was how much success he had with Gaudreau early on. Gaudreau is one of the best stickhandlers to ever play the game. Monahan just learned to put his stick down and have Gaudreau open up space and then feed him easy goals in the slot. Monahan is definitely elite at finishing those opportunities. The problem is Monahan really didn't lean to do much else.
This youtube video is a package of highlights from his rookie year, before he started playing with Gaudreau. IMO it looks like his skating, stickhandling, and desire to get into dirty areas was better in his rookie year than now.
