I Kind of figured if the Flames were in deep for Eichel, Mangiapane would have to have been in the package for any real serious inroads to be made.

If anyone could Fault Tree for anything it's his or his groups penchant for overvaluing his players too much.

I mean, I'd have been perfectly happy moving Mangiapane in an Eichel deal. Like I said, to me it was the most logical path to a deal to be made.

But if this place is this bummed out now, it'd be just as, if not more of a bummed out space if they dealt the golden child of the Flames. Sounds hyperbolic I know, but eat bread is a fan favorite. To the point that ppl would be seriously down trodden about using him to get a broken Eichel.

I dont fault Treliving for this miss. It was always an uphill battle to mitigate risk vs reward and find the sweet spot. Pair that with the old adage "it takes two to tango" and the Sabers just absolutely railroading themselves into Krebs and Tuch, it would have taken a lot more than the Flames and the majority of fans were comfortable with parting for the Elite #1 C so many have been clamoring for.
