I think the team will be better off with the depth we are building. The team is only as strong as its weakest link, and the Flames are building critical mass in some surprisingly good prospects. Keep your chin up Flames fans. You may feel like this is a loss, but I firmly believe today is a win for the organization in the long run.
Agreed. I mean it would be nice to Eichel of course, but there is a huge risk with him. Vegas is in the position where they can afford to give up assets to take on that risk considering the team has been in the contender window since they've entered the league, and they can give up prospects, while having some within the system that can make the team in the future and be good contributors.

Flames on the other hand have had a weak prospect base for forever. Flames don't have as much of a luxury to give up future assets since they're in a deficit. And the way the league is structured now, it's essential to be able to develop players within your system to be key players for you down the road; since acquisition through free agency and trades is not as easy, nor a sure bet like it used to be. Flames need to be holding on to their top prospects and early round picks. They shouldn't be giving up those type of assets until they are like Vegas, where they've made it to the third round/conference finals in three out of the four seasons they've been in the league. Those are the moves of contenders, and Flames aren't in that tier -even with their hot start so far.

Once again Brad is the bridesmaid, but in this case it's likely better for the franchise in the long run due to the costs, and risk of this move.
