The Flames are in the boat as Vegas in this regard. By hiring Sutter, signing Markstrom, and doubling down entering this season with the team's best forward being a pending UFA, the team is clearly in win-now mode with a very short window. I am not sure if Eichel would help or not, at least this season, but management probably thinks so since they were in on him.
We seem to be in win-now mode while the GM is still in on everything because he knows that winning now with the team as it is, is a bit of a long shot.
(by win-now, I mean win the Cup or coming close at least, not just making the playoffs)
