I am a little disappointed the Flames didn't get this deal done. It also seems like Tkachuk wasn't a part of our offer, which makes it nice to know where the team stands on Tkachuk. In my mind this brings up three questions.
What effect does this have on re-signing Gaudreau? (Was Gaudreau waiting to see if the Flames would bring in a top talent Center before committing to more years in Calgary)
Does this mean we will lose Coronato in the long run, like Adam Fox? (Playing with a Jack Eichel type player could convince a lot of people to join a Cup push)
Where does the team go from here? (With how well some of our prospects did in camp, it seemed like the Flames were in a position to make a trade and have the young guys step in to fill those holes. Now those players are forced to wait in the wings even longer before getting their opportunities. I think that's the reason why Fox didn't view the Flames as a place he could get a fair chance, and possibly the same perspective Coronato has)...
