I can't tell if your comment is sincere or in jest, but I think he absolutely should. Especially, in these sensitive situations, where teams can suffer consequences of the involved players' mentality change caused by the rumour. And double that, if the rumour is false (i.e. completely fabricated by anyone).

We have discussed here before the difference between an opinion ("Tkachuk+ would be a good trade for Eichel") vs. a credible rumour ("I hear that Tkuchuk+ is being offered by the Flames"). Sports analysts are fully within their rights to disseminate rumours if they received them from credible sources (whomever those sources are). So, if someone from the Sabres camp told them about Tkachuk being offered and that was true, this would be unethical and in breach of confidentiality, which should be implied in these situations. But if that was blatantly false, they should be penalized severely for that. This is plain wrong.
