The Oilers fans this board makes so much fun of are enjoying their poorly constructed team still be ahead of our incredible start in the standings. Could they use depth? Yeah. Which is a lot easier than acquiring the pieces that give them an unstoppable PP. But I'm sure we can make fun of them for playing their stars 25+ minutes while we have a 13M fourth line.

The Spurs situation was taking advantage of a situation and then being extremely lucky. Basketball teams go from good to terrible as a result of losing one guy. That one guy got hurt for the Spurs. They lucked out and won a lottery (they had 3rd best odds). They could have easily ended up with Keith Van Horn or Tony Battie instead of Duncan.
Tanking is fine if you have a path to get out of it. But if the Flames are going to tank - they need to load up on draft picks instead of losing guys for nothing and then pray you win a lottery.
Buffalo tanked to get McDavid. They lost that lottery to the Oilers and they are still spinning their wheels and picking 1st every 2nd draft.
