But they've sold off their last high tier prospect (that had 2 more years of ELC), that middle six guy was on a very team friendly deal, and placed themselves in Cap Hell as early as this year but certainly next. And right now the best they can hope for is that they are permitted to hide Eichel on LTIR until the playoffs, while hoping they can actually get into the playoffs. Remember, Kucherov was initially projected to be around second round for a return and came back early. It's a different beast when the projections are early.
I hope Eichel is close enough to sniff the Olympics. It puts a hole in the LTIR life raft the Knights will need if Eichel and his agent are lobbying to be part of Team USA while Vegas is hoping to hide him until the cap doesn't matter. Jack is already getting paid, and now getting his surgery. There is no incentive for him to accept not playing in the Olympics just for Vegas.
Even if they somehow manage it, I also don't think their roster is just a Jack Eichel away from sealing the deal and winning the cup.
