It's pro sports.
Being embarassed by tank talk is hilariously uppity.
The Oilers fans this board makes so much fun of are enjoying their poorly constructed team still be ahead of our incredible start in the standings. Could they use depth? Yeah. Which is a lot easier than acquiring the pieces that give them an unstoppable PP. But I'm sure we can make fun of them for playing their stars 25+ minutes while we have a 13M fourth line.

Funny part is the Oilers didn't tank for McDavid though.
They were just still bad after their three previous actual "Tanks" landed them Hall, RNH, and Yakupov.
And being "Still bad" landed them McDavid, Draisaitl, and Puljujarvi.
And in the end that was all luck.
What happens if instead of winning the lottery in 2015 they stay in their 3rd spot and draft Dylan Strome.
Maybe the win the lottery in 2014 instead and draft Ekblad instead of Draisaitl.
I'm not sure people are talking about how the tank was so effective for Edmonton if their picks over that 6 year stretch were Hall, RNH, Yakupov, Nurse, Ekblad, and Strome.
Intentionally tanking is stupid. But Flames need to start leaning into bad seasons. Last year instead of trying to recover in the end and make the playoffs they should have just ran with Ward until the end of the year and hoped to get a top 5 pick.
